"I've never felt guilty about a single thing I've done."
— Vincent to Lucifer Morningstar
in "Partners 'Til the End"

Vincent Le Mec was a French Mercenary that led a criminal organization, who served as a minor antagonist in Season 5 as well as the final antagonist of Season 6. Vincent and his crew were hired by the Archangel Michael to find the key to the Flaming Sword, eventually murdering Dan Espinoza on his orders. Vincent's operations were destroyed by Lucifer Morningstar and Mazikeen and was trapped in a living Hell Loop, driving him insane while imprisoned. After months of incarceration, Vincent escaped and reformed his crew. Attempting to alleviate his psychological torment that Lucifer caused, Vincent held Aurora Morningstar hostage to lure Lucifer to his warehouse and kill him with Rory's bladed wings. Before he could kill Lucifer, Le Mec is incapacitated by Rory after she escaped her restrains and killed by Chloe Decker after trying to kill Lucifer. Sent to Hell, Vincent became one of Lucifer's therapy patients, after the latter chose to become Hell's healer, so that he could be rehabilitated.

Biography[]

French Mercenary[]

At some point, Vincent Le Mec formed his own criminal organization that ran guns, kidnapped, and murdered. He and his crew were impossible to track down due to never leaving witnesses.[1]

Hired by Michael[]

Search for the Key[]

By 2020, Vincent and his crew garnered a fearsome reputation. They were hired by Michael to track down a necklace after he failed to find it with the remains of Caleb Mayfield.[1]

Assassination of Dan Espinoza[]

Vincent and Sayeed tied Dan to a chair in a dark tunnel and tortured him. After Sayeed delivered a punch to the face, Vincent stepped forward with a picture of TJ and questioned his whereabouts. Dan denied knowledge of the man, but Vincent knew he was lying and motioned Sayeed to continue the Detective's torture. After a couple more punches from his right-hand, Vincent repeated the question, but Dan remained resilient.

Switching gears, Vincent showed Dan a picture of Celeb's empty grave and asked if he recognized it. However, like TJ, Dan denied any knowledge of the gravestone. Le Mec bent down and looked into Dan's eyes and saw that he was still lying. He chuckled at their captive's poor lying ability before pulling out his gun and aiming it at his head. Despite this show of force, Dan insisted he was telling the truth, so Vincent returned his gun to his waistband.

He then orders Sayeed to continue torturing him.[1] Stepping away, Vincent received a phone call from Michael. He was alerted that the police were on their way and was ordered to kill Dan.[2] Understanding his orders, he hung up and took one last look at Dan before nodding to Sayeed to finish him off. He then tossed the photos on the ground as he departed the tunnel.

He was forced to return, however, after he heard resistance. He saw Sayeed unconscious and Dan attempting to flee. Before he could escape, Le Mec shot Dan in the back. Waiting as Dan slowly turned to face the French Mercenary, Vincent, without hesitation, completed his client's order and shot Dan two more times in the stomach. Leaving Dan to bleed out, Vincent got Sayeed to his feet and the two fled back to their base of operations.[1]

Destruction of his Operations[]

Preparing for their next job, Vincent and Sayeed watched as items were loaded in a SUV. They were, however, confronted by Lucifer Morningstar and Mazikeen, who sought revenge for Dan's murder. Vincent and Sayeed retreated to the back of the warehouse, but the former became terrified as the duo took down his crew with ease. He was then left alone after Maze killed Sayeed.

Vincent pulled out his gun to fight, but it was smacked out of his hand by Lucifer. He then trembled as Lucifer's eyes glowed red.[1] He stood still as Lucifer whispered something in ear that caused him to become trap inside his own living Hell Loop.[3] Shaking his head in terror, Vincent dropped to his knees and started crying.[1] He was subsequently arrested and imprisoned for life for his crimes.[4]

Revenge on Lucifer[]

Possessed by Dan Espinoza[]

In "Goodbye, Lucifer", Dan's ghost visits Vincent in prison, having come to the conclusion that Vincent is somehow tied to the guilt that is preventing Dan from reaching Heaven. As chaos grips the prison due to angels badly answering prayers, Vincent's cell door is accidentally left open the guards and he escapes, chased by Dan. Vincent robs and nearly kills a store clerk named Josh who recognizes him, but while desperately trying to stop Vincent, Dan inadvertently possesses his body and is unable to free himself.

Vincentdan

Using Vincent's body, Dan visits his daughter, resulting in Dan letting go of his guilt and finally ascending to Heaven. Lucifer receives a call from Vincent shortly after midnight the next day revealing that Vincent has captured Rory and that he wants Lucifer to come get her at the location that Rory has predicted that Lucifer will vanish at.[4]

Death[]

In "Partners 'Til the End", it's revealed that Vincent has been driven insane by what Lucifer did to him, which is described as bringing to Hell to Vincent who is continuously tortured by his own guilt over his actions, putting Vincent into a state of constant pain as he is consumed by the guilt that he had never felt before. Having learned of Lucifer's true nature and remembering everything that happened while he was possessed, Vincent seeks to take revenge upon the Devil and to kill him by kidnapping Rory and weaponizing her feathers. After Lucifer talks Rory down from killing Vincent and becoming the monster that he once was, Vincent is shot by Chloe Decker as he tries to stab Lucifer from behind and becomes impaled upon two of Rory's weaponized feathers. With his last words, Vincent reveals to an amazed and pleased Lucifer that Dan had made it to Heaven while Vincent himself only sees darkness instead of the light, meaning that he is going to Hell.[3]

Therapy Session[]

Decades later, having regained his sanity, Vincent is one of the souls of Hell that Lucifer attempts to redeem. Vincent took part in one of Lucifer's therapy sessions along with Reese Getty. Vincent offers to shoot Reese in the face if he can't change and put the man out of his misery, but Lucifer tells Vincent off for his suggestion and notes that he clearly needs a little more time to which Vincent just shrugs in agreement. Their session is then interrupted by a knock on the door which Lucifer believes is a delivery of donuts and pastries for Vincent. However, it instead turns out to be the arrival of the recently-deceased Chloe who has come to help Lucifer in his eternal mission.[3]

  • While possessed by Dan Espinoza, Vincent's French accent disappears and is replaced by Rob Benedict's real American accent.
  • "Le mec" translates to "the guy" in French.
  • By the time Lucifer gives him therapy, Vincent has mellowed a lot after being freed from having to constantly feel pain from his guilt; with it now solely being in his Hell Loop. Lucifer noted Vincent needs more time, but it's obvious that he's made enough progress to accept his situation.
