At first, I thought it was an emissary on Earth working on dad's behalf, but the more I think about it, the more I think this isn't our father who art in Heaven at all. But something much, much darker.

Sinnerman is a major villain in the third season. He is a mysterious criminal mastermind who is the LAPD's primary suspect in the kidnapping of Lucifer Morningstar[1].

History

While his identity is a complete mystery, it is however known that he is a slightly depraved criminal mastermind who Lucifer Morningstar suspects as the one who kidnapped him.[1]

Based on Lucifer's apparent redemption it's possible that the Sinnerman is an actual sin eater, a tradition in which a person would take on the sins of the dead and dying similar to the ancient tradition of the scapegoat later replaced by "Jesus'/Joshua's forgiveness" . If he did in fact devour Lucifer's sins it would explain how his wings regenerated (as his brother's probably would have had he not sinned) and the loss of Lucifer's devil face, making the Sinnerman the new devil.

Personality

While not much is known about what kind of person he is, it is known that Sinnerman is slightly morally corrupt to the core, which leaves him as a dangerous and possibly intimidating figure.

The song "Sinnerman" from the african culture refers to a man who is attempting to escape from Divine Justice. It is a song previously sang by Lucifer in season 1 ep. 6 "The favourite Son" when his wings were firstly stolen. (Speculation: He may have power over Lucifer since he is the one escaping justice and lucifer is the one that needs to bring justice apon the sinners.)

Powers and Abilities

  • Supernatural strength: While it is currently unknown what exact species the Sinnerman is, he does possess enough strength to knock Lucifer Morningstar unconscious.
