The season premiered on Monday, September 19, 2016.[1] On October 31, 2016, FOX announced the season will have 22 episodes, nine more than previously stated.[2][3] However, on March 23, 2017, it was announced that only 18 episodes will air this season. The final four episodes were stand-alone episodes and were moved to be part of the third season.[4]
Premise
Thanks to Amenadiel's blunder, Hell was left unguarded for a short time. This allowed Lucifer's mother, the Goddess of creation, to escape Hell and arrive on Earth. Lucifer is left trying to find a loophole in his deal with God, so he can punish his mother. Maze begins undergoing changes, trying to find out where she fits in on Earth.
