Los Angeles, also known as the City of Angels, is where the series Lucifer takes place. Lucifer Morningstar moved there after abandoning his throne in Hell. In Los Angeles, he owns and runs the nightclub, Lux, while helping the LAPD to solve crimes.


History[]

Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the United States after New York. It's located in the southern state of California, on the Pacific coast. Americans often call it by its diminutive, L.A . The city is the county seat of the same name. Los Angeles means "The angels" in Spanish and its inhabitants are called Angelenos (sometimes Angelinos) - the Angels. Its full name is "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula", that's to say "The Village of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of the Porciuncula River", Porciuncula being the name given to the river Los Angeles by Native Americans.

According to one estimate, the town's population was 3,976,322 inhabitants in 2016, while it was only 11,500 in 1887. The county has 10,179,716 inhabitants (in July 2004) while the urban area Los Angeles has a population of approximately 18.5 million, making it the second largest city in the United States after New York. But the municipality of Los Angeles is relatively small compared to its metropolitan area, even if it's larger than New York and Chicago.

Los Angeles is an Olympic city: it hosts the Summer Olympics twice (in 1932 and 1984), and will host them again in 2028. World famous for its cultural activity (notably through film production in Hollywood), it has world city-region status; Cosmopolitan, it remains one of the most important entry points for immigrants to the United States.
