John Decker was an LAPD officer, the father of Chloe Decker, and the grandfather of Trixie Espinoza and Aurora Morningstar.
History[]
John Decker was born in 1956, and was raised in Los Angeles. As an adult, he joined the police force and served as a uniform officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
He married Penelope, with whom he made a deal, he would support her career until it took off, and then she would support him until he made detective. With his support, Penelope became a famous 80's sci-fi movie star.
During their marriage they tried to conceive, but were unsuccessful and had all but given up hope of having a child. Amenadiel was sent by his Father to bless the couple, and they then successfully conceived and had a daughter, Chloe Decker on November 6, 1981.
When Chloe was 18, John was looking into a case against the Russia Mafia and the Chinese Alhambra Triads, a corrupt prison warden, Perry Smith warned him to stop, but John refused. John Decker was assassinated on June 27, 2000. His murder had been orchestrated by Smith. Smith also arranged for Joe Fields, an innocent man, to take the fall for the murder in return for money.
Because of Penelope's fame, paparazzi invaded his funeral and Chloe ended up punching Nick Hofmeister's camera. Shortly after, Chloe left acting and joined the LAPD.
Sixteen years later, Chloe arrested Perry Smith after finding proof that Fields could not have committed the crime. The Goddess, inhabiting lawyer Charlotte Richards, served as defense attorney and Smith was acquitted. Dan and Maze later inform the Russian mob that Smith was responsible for Boris Sokolov's murder. The mob then kidnaps and murder Smith.
After Chloe is murdered by Michael, she is reunited with her father in Heaven. When Lucifer arrives to resurrect her, Chloe is torn between returning to Earth and staying with her father. Proudly addressing Chloe as Detective Decker, John tells his daughter to go back to the people who need her, promising to be waiting when she does return.
Once Upon A Time[]
In creating an alternate universe, God saved Decker's life by moving the bullet a few inches to the right. Eventually, Decker got his turn at career advancement, and became a detective, holding the rank of lieutenant. Chloe stayed an actor.

- John's death was the watershed moment that shaped Chloe's life. In "Once Upon a Time", God revealed John's death set about a chain of events in the lives of those close to Chloe.
