Plot[]
Joe appears in the season one episode, The Would-Be Prince of Darkness. He is the manager of Ty Huntley, a star football quarterback. He sees Ty as his ticket to the big time, his stated desire is "I want to be the greatest agent of all time," and does everything in his power to control and direct his client, including making headlines with Ty's virginal state, saying "I loved the virgin angle. It's a clean hook, got him a lot of attention." He then, however, hires struggling actress, Ali Thorn to have sex with Ty at his party with the stated intent of helping him get over his ex - a woman he had chased away from his client in the first place. When Ali is found dead the morning after the party, floating in Ty's pool, Lucifer and Chloe investigate the case.
Joe had instructed Ty to break up with his girlfriend, Debra McCall, "I made Ty file a restraining order after she broke a girl's nose just for buying him a mojito," he then deliberately pointed the murder investigation at Debra, hoping she would take the fall. "What about Debra? I told you to look into her, she's the crazy one." When Chloe then tricked him into admitting he had been at the party as well, she informed him that, "We have a sworn statement from Ronnie Hillman saying that you hired the victim to make a sex tape with Ty to blackmail him." Apparently he was terrified that Ty would leave him, and wanted the leverage to keep him on a leash, "If he left me, I would be ruined. I mean, do you understand? He is my Brady, my Manning." But when Ali refused to give him the video of her and Ty in bed, he tried to force her, and killed her in the process, "I squeezed too hard. I'm done. Forget this, I'm out of here." With this dismissal of his causing her death, he infuriated Lucifer who pointed out that Joe killed a young woman for his no more than his own greed and ego. In his anger, Lucifer then effortlessly shoved the 200+ pound man through a plate glass window.
Chloe took Joe into custody, and Ty said he never had any plans to leave Joe, but he would now.
