— Jed Moore to Chloe Decker in "BlueBallz" |
Jed Moore, whose on-air persona is DJ Karnal, is a popular DJ, and Chloe Decker's ex-boyfriend. He becomes the target of an attack in the season 5 episode, BlueBallz. Jed's appearance sparks jealousy in Lucifer who sees him as a possible threat to his newfound relationship with Chloe.
Biography[]
History[]
Little is known about Jed's history other than that he is the ex-boyfriend of Chloe Decker, apparently during her time as an actress. He was unaware that she had made the jump to police officer when they again meet, "I always knew you'd be a great cop."
Chloe broke up with Jed for an unstated reasons. After she joined the police force, she became involved with, and married Dan Espinoza. Jed later tried to resuscitate his relationship with Chloe after she and Dan separated, but Chloe rejected him.
In the meantime, he had managed a highly successful career as a DJ; his on air name was Karnal.
Meeting Chloe Again[]
Jed returns to Los Angeles to perform a concert, but finds that DJ Pexxa, who was on before him, has been murdered with the use of his equipment. When Ella points out his arrival at the crime scene, even Lucifer says, "I must admit, he may be the one DJ who has even a modicum of talent. But then again, his ludicrous name negates that. I mean, 'Karnal' really?" The investigation quickly makes clear that Jed not Pexxa was the intended victim.
Meanwhile, Dan warns Lucifer to be careful of Jed on a personal level, "I'm just saying, watch out for that guy, all right? I wouldn't put anything past him." Once it is established that Jed may be in danger, Lucifer offers to keep him at the penthouse for both safety, and to keep him away from Chloe. He then mojos Jed who responds, "I wish I hadn't screwed things up with Chloe." Lucifer then demands to know everything Jed did wrong, so as to avoid his mistakes. Jed takes the opportunity to manipulate Lucifer into making such mistakes when he realizes Lucifer is even crazier about Chloe than even he was.
Eventually, Jed ditches Lucifer and heads to Lux where Chloe is running a sting to smoke out the killer. He arrives, full of himself, and puts himself on center stage. He winds up at gunpoint and Chloe has to talk the gunman down. When she finally brings the gunman down and places him under arrest, Jed says he can't believe he is going to say it but thanks Chloe for saving his life. She responds that she was just doing her job. He then says, "That's all it is, isn't it? I'm pretty sure all that talk about 'tell them how you feel' wasn't about me." When she tells him what she has with Lucifer is both new and complicated, he looks resigned and tells her, "Well, it didn't sound very complicated when you were talking back there. I believe the word you used was 'incredible.'"
Jed's return to Chloe's life only makes her realize her true feelings for Lucifer.[1]
