The conflict between God and Goddess lasted for millions of years, stemming shortly after the creation of humanity and ultimately reaching its peak with the banishment of Goddess to Hell. Following Goddess's escape from Hell to Earth, their conflict reignites after She seeks the help of their formerly banished son, Lucifer Morningstar, in storming the gates of Heaven and overthrowing God once and for all. However, this plan never came to fruition due to a sudden change of heart by Lucifer, and formerly ends with Goddess getting her own universe to rule over. Several millennia later, God and Goddess reconciled with the help of Gabriel and Lucifer, cementing the end to their conflict.

History[]

Beginning of Conflict[]

Following God's creation of Humanity, significant friction began to develop in the family due to God's increased amount of attention given towards the Human species. As a result of God's neglect toward the family, as well as secret temptations by Michael, Lucifer Morningstar staged a rebellion with several other Angels, including Saraqael, with the goal of overthrowing God. The rebellion ultimately failed and led to Lucifer's banishment to Hell.[1] Although God was initially hellbent on destroying Lucifer for the unrest that he caused, He was persuaded by Goddess into banishing their son.

Following Lucifer's banishment to Hell, the relationship between God and Goddess deteriorated even further as Goddess's hatred for Humanity continued to grow. She often caused floods and plagues on Earth as a way of exacting Her frustrations over Her Husband's perceived apathy. This ultimately culminated into direct conflict between the two deities, resulting in the formal banishment of Goddess into Hell and leaving God as the sole Sovereign of the Universe. Still baring resent over for his Mother's perceived lack of intervention during his banishment into Hell, Lucifer assigned his chief lieutenant, Mazikeen, as her torturer.[2]

Resurgence (2016 - 2017)[]

Millions of years later (Earth's time is 2017), Goddess was able to use her limited strength to escape Hell due to Lucifer and Maze no longer being present to supervise Her captivity.[3] While on Earth, She inhabited the body of a recently deceased Charlotte Richards to be used as Her temporary vessel.[2] Upon meeting Lucifer again[1], Goddess manages to convince him that She was the reason why his life was spared by God, leading to their reconciliation and partnership.[2] Amenadiel, being a fallen Angel and believing himself to have fallen from their Father's favor, attempted to assist Lucifer in redeeming himself as he believed it to be his test from God.[4]

Goddess's plans of returning to Heaven are temporarily halted when Uriel ventured to Earth with Azrael's Blade in an attempt to coerce Lucifer into bringing Her to him. Learning about his brother's intention to eradicate Goddess with the blade to ensure that God cannot be overthrown, Lucifer is ultimately forced into eradicating Uriel in the midst of a heated battle in order to prevent the death of Chloe Decker, whose life was used as a negotiating piece by Uriel.[5]

Following Uriel's death, Lucifer and Goddess manage to find all three components needed to reassemble the Flaming Sword (Blade of Death, Medallion of Life[6], and Amenadiel's necklace[7]). However, citing his renewed loyalty to his Father, Amenadiel disagrees with their plan on using the Flaming Sword to overthrow Him. An impatient Goddess started regaining Her full powers, causing Her vessel to slowly lose its capacity of holding Her essence. After Lucifer suggests that She return to Hell and become its ruler, Goddess became enraged and severely wounds Linda Martin, as well as threatening all of the Human lives in Santa Monica Pier until She gets the last piece of the sword.

Conclusion[]

Amenadiel manages to use his power of chronokinesis to substantially slow down time, saving the life of Linda and allowing Lucifer to reach Goddess in time. Reassembling the Flaming Sword, Lucifer refused to allow his Mother to return to Heaven, agreeing with Amenadiel's concerns of potentially starting a civil war. Instead, Lucifer uses the Sword to cut through the Universe itself, which allowed Goddess to cede Her conflict with God and form Her own universe. Not wishing to jeopardize the lives of Her children, Goddess agrees with the plan and enters the void to form Her own universe.[8]

Aftermath[]

After Lucifer Morningstar prevented another civil war in Heaven by persuading Goddess to cede' her grudge against God and instead form her own universe, he regrew his wings and lost the ability to manifest his Devil Face. Although he initially believed that his Devil Face was stolen and that his wings were returned as a punishment from his Father[9] , Lucifer later realizes that he regained his wings due to subconsciously believing that he was worthy of being an Angel again.[10]

Lucifer and Amenadiel both missed their Mother, believing they'd never see her again.[11][12]

Before departing to the Void, Goddess resurrected Charlotte Richards and her soul was returned to her body. Upon being brought back to the world of the living, she possessed no memory of what happened during the time that her body was used as a vessel. Charlotte had to deal with the fallout of Goddess' actions, including mistrust from the Los Angeles Police Department and losing custody of her children.[11]

In 2020, Goddess returned to the main Universe after receiving a visit from Gabriel as part of Lucifer's plan to reunite Her with God. The two deities managed to reconcile and ultimately decided to return to Goddess' universe so God could live in Her world for a change. Before Her final departure, Goddess was able to formally part ways with Amenadiel as they did not get the chance to say goodbye during Her abrupt exit in 2017, and She assured him that he was going to be a great father to Charlie.[13]
