Lucifer's car, or  the Corvette, is a 1962 Tuxedo Black Chevrolet Corvette. It is the personal vehicle of Lucifer Morningstar, and sports a personalized number plate, "FALL1N1". It was first seen in the opening scene of "Pilot," and remains Lucifer's preferred vehicle throughout the series.

Lucifer's car is a Tuxedo Black 1962, first generation Chevrolet Corvette C1. This collector's item appears in the flashback episode, "City of Angels?" during Lucifer's LA debut, just after his arrival. Lucifer and Amenadiel go to a parking garage to choose a car among those that are parked there. Amenadiel suggests a modern, flashy silver Bentley, but Lucifer deems it “too douchy”. Lucifer passes up an enormous black Dodge Ram pickup truck, remarking it’s “too hick”. He ends up choosing the classic black Corvette. Not having the key, Lucifer uses his talents to start it with a single glance; "I can turn anything on". The two brothers steal the car, and Lucifer encounters some braking problems before accelerating suddenly causing the vehicle's back license plate to drop: it will later be replaced.

Later, the plate will be replaced by a personalized tag: "FALL1N1," clearly a play on "Fallen One," a nicely symbolic way of representing the fact that Lucifer is the first of the fallen angels, thus allowing to combine the interest that Lucifer has for vintage cars but also his identity, his true interest.

The Corvette is the most used car in the show, and appears in the majority of episodes. It is not, however, the only vehicle in Lucifer's possession. He also has a 1963 Aston Martin DB4 Convertible in "Expire Erect". This flashy and expensive car made an notable change from the Corvette C1. This change came to signify the arrival of Eve, and with the change of car there were many other changes made to his behavior. This car was produced by Aston Martin between 1958 and 1963, and it made its debut at the London Motor Show in 1958. It features a separate tubular frame body, which was designed in Milan, Italy, and many were enthusiastic about it.

It is shown that after Lucifer leaves Earth at the end of season 6, Chloe Decker keeps the Corvette and eventually passes it down to their daughter who shares Lucifer's love for the vehicle.

Lucifer's favorite car has an elegance and style that won it roles in films and television shows, notably, Route 66, which ran from 1960-1964. The 1962 variation of the C1 Corvette was widely regarded as a transitional avant-garde styling to the next generation. This model featured a large 327 cubic inch V-8 engine, giving it the 283 cubic inch engine power that existed before. 1962 was the last year Chevrolet used the C1 chassis on the Corvette, making it one of the most sought after versions of all C1 models.

In the bonus episode, "Once Upon a Time", which takes place in an alternate reality, Lucifer and Chloe Decker drive a Roman Red Corvette rather than the usual Tuxedo Black Corvette.

Trivia[]

  • Tom Ellis said if he were allowed to keep anything from the set it would definitely be the Chevrolet Corvette. [1]
  • In Season 6, Lucifer shows off the car to his daughter but misnames it as a “Stingray”, the C2 model that came out a year after it.
