The Demon Uprising was a revolt led by Dromos of the Lilim, and involved a score or so Demons of Hell as a response to Lucifer Morningstar's prolonged vacation to Earth and his refusal to return to Hell.
Initially, in an attempt to have the prophecy repudiated, when Eve killed William Kinley, she sent a mesage with him to Hell; she said that they should come for their king and bring him back to Hell. Dromos possessed Kinley and immediately responded to the call to bring their king back. Upon arrival he killed another human to make room for his sibling, Squee to possess. They then proceeded to Lux where Lucifer made it abundantly clear he had no intentions of returning to Hell and ordered the demons home, after letting slip he had a new born nephew.
Dromos had other plans, and led the Demons to kidnap Amenadiel and Linda Martin's newborn son, Charlie, and make him Hell's new sovereign of Hell, because only a celestial can rule there. Dromos planned on being the demon behind the throne.
Dromos set up shop in a church confessional and murdered those who came to confess sins so that demons could take over their bodies. He then broke into the penthouse and stole the agent Chloe was supposed to have used on Lucifer during Kinley's Crusade. He then prepared to send Charlie to Hell using a ritual Kinley had planned to use on Lucifer, and set up at the Mayan, a venue used both for church services and concerts.
Lucifer and his allies confronted the rebellious Demons there and after significant battle, Eve escaped with Charlie. When a new wave of Demons arrived and dragged Chloe away from Lucifer, he transformed into the King of Hell, and ordered them to their knees, such was his force, even the reluctant Dromos complied. Lucifer reestablished his command over them and order them back to Hell, and they all instantly fled the possessed bodies.
Though the threat was contained, Lucifer knew he had to return to Hell to keep the Demons in line, leaving behind the life he built on Earth.
Prelude[]
After Lucifer Morningstar left Hell to take a vacation to Earth, the Demons started to become restless over when their king would return.[1] In a misguided attempt to be with Lucifer, Eve killed Father William Kinley to send a message to the Demons to bring him back to Hell.[2] Wanting to stop a world ending prophecy from coming to fruition, Kinley did just that and delivered the message to Dromos when he showed up on his "docket."
In response, despite Lucifer's ban on possessing the dead, Dromos possessed Kinley's dead body, and set out to bring more of his siblings to Earth to help convince Lucifer. He had Squee take the body the dead rapper Holla Bae and the two went to Lux to confront their wayward king.[1]
Finding a New King[]
When Dromos and Squee arrived at Lux, they joyfully greeted their king, but Lucifer was less than happy to see them. Dromos explained what brought them to Earth and how Hell needed its king back. Lucifer, however, still refused to abandon his life on Earth, letting it slip that his brother Amenadiel recently had a son. After Lucifer threatened to incinerate Dromos for threatening to torture a living Human, the Demon agreed that they would return home.
Realizing that their king had no intention of leading them, Dromos elected to kidnap Charlie and perform the ritual William Kinley was going to use on Lucifer to send him to Hell on the baby. Once in Hell, Dromos would raise him as their new king. They killed Lyla Clayborn, a patron at Lux, and had her pose as a night nurse to steal Charlie from his home. She delivered the Nephilim to Dromos.
They used confessional as a means to find more damned souls for their siblings to inhabit as backup in case they go up against Lucifer and his allies. Eve soon arrived demanding an update on her plan to bring Lucifer back to Hell so she could be with him. Dromos revealed they changed their plans, unveiling baby Charlie and Squee reporting they have enough reinforcements for the ritual at the Mayan. They then knocked Eve unconscious and left.[1]
Battle at the Mayan[]
Dromos and his Demon siblings arrived at the Mayan that night and prepared to send Charlie to Hell, when Lucifer arrived with Amenadiel, Mazikeen, and Eve. Denouncing Lucifer as their king, the Demons battled him and his allies. While Maze fought Squee, and Amenadiel other Demons, Lucifer and Eve focused on Dromos and rescuing Charlie from his grasp. When Eve got her hands on Charlie, she ran outside where she was cornered by the Demon possessed Lyla Clayborn, but with the combined efforts of Eve and Chloe Decker, they were able to defeat her.
After sending all of the Demons back to Hell, Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Maze focused on Dromos, though he still wasn't concerned. Before Lucifer could use Maze's Demon dagger to send him back to Hell, he was distracted by the arrival of Chloe. This allowed Dromos' reinforcements to arrive and badly outnumber them. With no alternative, Lucifer unveiled his king of Hell form to the stunned Demons. Gaining his authority over them again, he ordered they return to Hell, which they promptly did.[1]
Aftermath[]
Lucifer's Return to Hell[]
Though the battle was won, Lucifer Morningstar knew it was only a temporary solution and that he had to return to Hell to keep the Demons in line, or else they would continue to defy him. He bid farewell to the heartbroken Chloe Decker after the two admitted their love for each other, and returned as Hell's sovereign.[1] Covering for Lucifer's absence, Chloe lied that he went to Florida to take over the family business, which greatly upset Ella Lopez that he didn't even say goodbye to her.[3]
Michael’s Campaign[]
News of Lucifer's noble sacrifice reached the Silver City, and soon all his siblings started praising their brother for his actions. This caused Lucifer's twin, Michael, to grow jealous and travel to Earth and start his own personal campaign to drive Lucifer back to prove he's still their "eternally selfish brother." He managed to recruit Mazikeen to his cause, who was also furious that Lucifer went back to Hell without her.[4]
